Experience the Salish Sea from the water on a guided Indigenous cultural canoe journey at Jericho Beach — a private IWI Summit experience with Talaysay Tours.

This experience offers authentic Indigenous experiences on the shared territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation) and Líl̓wat7úl (Lil’wat Nation). The IWI Summit group tour bus will depart from the Hyatt Regency Vancouver for a 2-hour bus ride on the Sea to Sky Highway and will visit the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Líl̓wat7úl Cultural Centre in Whistler, British Columbia, visit Indigenous businesses along the route back, and shop for authentic Indigenous art and gifts.

The group will experience the What We Treasure Tour, which is the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre's signature tour. Recognized as part of the prestigious Canadian Signature Experiences collection, this curated museum experience is uniquely offered only in Canada and provides an authentic window into the Squamish and Lil'wat Peoples. The group will be guided by knowledgeable Ambassadors through carefully selected exhibits featuring authentic artifacts and personal narratives. Guests will gain meaningful insights into the values, traditions, and contemporary life of both the Squamish Nation and the Lil'wat Nation, creating a memorable and educational experience.

Following the tour, First Nations Ambassadors will lead the group in getting crafty while sharing their Nations’ stories behind the craft using buckskin, beads and hide lacing to craft a handmade medicine bag. Traditionally, medicine bags were used to hold medicinal herbs or treasures that provide protection for the wearer who may be on a spirit quest, hunting and gathering, journeying to a neighbouring community, or for everyday protection and reminders. Some of the more common contents for medicine bags are tobacco, sage, sweet grass or other items deemed special or spiritual, such as crystals or small carvings.

For lunch, tour participants will gather in the welcoming Istken Hall for the Rubble Creek Lunch—a delicious celebration of local cuisine. This authentic meal features their signature Homemade Lil'wat Venison Chili and Cedar Plank Squamish Salmon Chowder, complemented by freshly baked bannock prepared in-house.

The return trip to Vancouver will include visits to Indigenous owned businesses.
